• Individual Activity Summative Evaluation

Following your activity, please analyze your evaluation data and submit the Summative Evaluation within 30 days of the conclusion of your program. If your activity is enduring, we ask that you submit your summative evaluation annually by January 15th of the following year. The Summative Evaluation should include an analysis of whether the learning outcome measure was met and a reflection on any implications for future programming gained from evaluation of this activity.

  • Summative Evaluation

Provide a post-activity analysis of individual educational activity data that determines if the educational activity successfully changed the knowledge, skill, and/or practice of the learners.
  • Important Notes for Educational Activity Nurse Planners

    • ANCC requires documentation of measurable evidence demonstrating achievement of learning outcomes.
    • Responses must reflect analysis of data, not participant satisfaction or perceived confidence.
    • Evidence must be directly linked to the stated learning outcome. Data should be measurable, aggregated, and analyzed. Avoid reliance on satisfaction, confidence, or anecdotal feedback alone
    • Clearly document whether outcomes were achieved

    Examples:

    Knowledge-Based Outcome Example:

    Learning Outcome:
At the conclusion of the activity, participants will be able to identify three evidence-based strategies to reduce nurse burnout in acute care settings.

    Exemplar Response:

Evidence supporting achievement of the learning outcome includes pre- and post-activity knowledge assessments demonstrating an increase in correct responses from a mean score of 62% pre-activity to 91% post-activity. Additionally, 94% of participants (n=47) correctly identified at least three evidence-based burnout reduction strategies in the post-activity evaluation. Qualitative responses further supported outcome achievement, with participants citing specific strategies such as peer support programs, workload redistribution, and mindfulness-based interventions as planned practice changes.

    Example 2: Practice-Based / Application Learning Outcome
    Learning Outcome:
At the conclusion of the activity, participants will be able to apply updated hypertension management guidelines when developing a patient-centered care plan.

    Exemplar Response:
Evidence of learning outcome achievement was demonstrated through case-based application exercises completed during the activity. Eighty-nine percent of participants (n=36) accurately applied current hypertension guidelines when developing a care plan in the post-activity case scenario, compared to 54% accuracy during the initial case discussion. In the summative evaluation, 87% of participants reported intent to implement guideline-based medication titration and lifestyle counseling strategies in their clinical practice, indicating successful application of the learning content.
